What cookies are and why we use them
Cookies are small text files that a website saves to your computer, tablet or phone when you visit. They let the site recognise your device on later pages and later visits, so it can keep you signed in, remember what you have chosen and work the way you expect. Similar technologies, such as pixels, tags and local storage, do much the same job, and everything written here applies to them as well.
Some cookies last only as long as your visit and are deleted when you close your browser. Others stay on your device for a set period, so the site remembers you when you return. Some are set by us, and some are set by the service providers we use to run parts of the site, such as hosting, payments, game content and analytics.
We use cookies for four broad reasons: to make the site function and keep your account secure, to understand how the site is performing, to remember your settings, and to measure the marketing you see. We also hold a gaming licence and are required to verify the accounts we open, so a small number of cookies support age and identity checks and help us spot unusual activity on an account.
The types of cookies we use
The cookie notice on our site groups cookies into the four categories below. Strictly necessary cookies are always on, because the site cannot be delivered without them. The other three are set only if you accept them.
Strictly necessary
These keep the site working and your account safe. They let you sign in and stay signed in as you move between pages, hold your cashier session together, spread traffic across our servers, and protect forms and log-ins against fraud and automated abuse. They also record whether you have answered the cookie notice, so you are not asked again on every page.
Performance and analytics
These help us see how the site is used so we can fix faults and make pages faster. Typical purposes include counting visits to a page, measuring how long a page takes to load, recording where an error occurred and noting which screen sizes players use. We look at this information in aggregate, as patterns across many visits rather than what any one person did.
Functionality
These remember the choices you make, so you do not have to set them again. Examples include your language and display preferences, whether you have closed a notice, and the settings behind the safer gambling tools in your account.
Marketing
Where you have accepted them, these are used to measure our advertising, to limit how often you see the same message and to make the offers you see more relevant. They can also tell us that a visit followed an advertisement, including where a partner referred you, so the referral is credited correctly. We do not use marketing cookies to target anyone who has registered with a self-exclusion scheme or asked us to stop sending marketing.
| Category | Can you switch it off? | Main purposes |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | No | Signing in, holding your session, security and fraud checks |
| Performance and analytics | Yes | Page counts, loading times, fault and error reports |
| Functionality | Yes | Language, display and account tool settings you have saved |
| Marketing | Yes | Measuring advertising and crediting partner referrals |
How to manage cookies
You have two ways to control cookies: the cookie notice on our site, and the settings in your browser.
- Open the cookie settings from the notice when it appears, or from the cookie settings kept in the footer of every page.
- Accept all categories, keep only the strictly necessary cookies, or switch individual categories on and off.
- Save your choice. We record it and apply it on your next visit from the same browser.
- Change it whenever you like. Clearing your cookies also clears the record of your choice, so the notice will appear again.
Every major browser also lets you block or delete cookies, block third-party cookies only, or clear cookies each time you close a session. These controls usually sit under privacy or security in the browser settings menu, and the browser's own help pages set out the steps for the version you are running. Mobile devices have similar settings for app and advertising identifiers.
Cookie settings apply to one browser on one device, so if you use more than one, please set your choices in each of them.
What happens if you block them
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site working. In practice, you may not be able to sign in or stay signed in, your session may end as you move between pages, the cashier may be unable to complete a deposit or withdrawal, and games may fail to load or to save your progress.
Turning off the other categories has a smaller effect. Without functionality cookies, your settings are forgotten between visits. Without performance cookies, we see less about faults and slow pages, so they take us longer to find and fix. Without marketing cookies, you will still see advertising, but it will be less relevant to you.
Account security and safer gambling
Some protections depend on cookies, so blocking them may stop the site applying the deposit limits, time-outs and other settings shown in your account during a session. Our site is for players aged 18 and over. Free, confidential help is available from GambleAware, GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline, and GamStop lets you block yourself from licensed online gambling sites in Great Britain.
Changes to this policy and how to reach us
We update this policy when the cookies we use change, when we add or remove a service provider, or when the law or our processes change. The version published here is always the current one, and we suggest you look over it from time to time. Where a change affects the categories in the cookie notice, we will ask for your choices again. This policy sits alongside our privacy policy, which explains what personal data we hold and what rights you have over it.
If you have a question about this policy, want to know more about a particular cookie, or would like help changing your settings, e-mail us at support@casino-mrrun.co.uk or use the live chat on the site. Requests about your personal data can be sent to privacy@casino-mrrun.co.uk, and questions about partner referral tracking to affiliate@casino-mrrun.co.uk. Please include the e-mail address registered to your account with us, and tell us which browser and device you are using if your question is about settings.
